Vance not endorsing Netanyahu reelection bid, ‘not getting involved’ in Israeli elections

Vice President JD Vance says he’s not endorsing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s reelection bid because he doesn’t want to be “involved” in the U.S. ally’s elections.

“I’m not getting involved in the Israeli elections,” Vance said on Mark Halperin’s show “2WAY Tonight.” “I’m not anti-endorsing him; I’m not pro-endorsing him.”

Vance spoke one day after President Donald Trump endorsed Netanyahu, with his political party’s elections about a week away.

The administration’s support for Netanyahu’s government has created some division within the Republican Party and the public at large as public opinion sours on Israel more generally over its prosecution of the Gaza war.

That conflict has seen Israel face allegations of war atrocities and genocide, which it denies.
