Ukraine launches massive drone attack on Russia, setting St. Petersburg oil facilities ablaze

A massive Ukrainian drone offensive struck multiple locations across Russia overnight into Sunday, sparking fires at oil facilities in St. Petersburg and killing at least one person, Russian officials said.

St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov said the attack ignited fires at the city’s oil terminal and an oil depot in Ruchi. One person was killed and five others were injured, according to local authorities.

The strikes also targeted a logistics center operated by Russian online retailer Ozon and a data center belonging to technology company VK. Both companies confirmed their facilities had been affected.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said its air defenses intercepted or destroyed 1,015 Ukrainian drones across 15 Russian regions, as well as over the annexed Crimean Peninsula and the Black Sea area. The claim could not be independently verified.
