Federal agents searched the Washington, D.C.-area home of Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., early Monday as part of an ongoing criminal investigation, according to Fox News and The Associated Press.
“Today in the Washington, D.C., area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice. This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal investigation,” a DOJ spokesperson told Fox News.
Fox reported seeing multiple agents outside of her home early Monday morning.
Fox reports the search is connected to a criminal fraud investigation involving Omar’s immigration paperwork, which her late father completed when she was a child. The Justice Department has not publicly disclosed the nature of the investigation.
The search comes about a month after White House border czar Tom Homan confirmed an ongoing criminal investigation involving Omar, though he declined to provide details.
Omar previously said she had not been contacted by federal investigators or informed of any investigation. She has repeatedly denied past allegations of immigration fraud.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
