A third electric worker, Lu Haitao from China, was pulled from a tunnel in Nepal after two were rescued on Friday. All three were pulled from the Trishuli Hydropower plant.
The Nepal army said the rescue was done by a team of Nepalese military personnel and South Korean disaster experts. They pulled the man from a 738-foot tunnel, and he was getting a health assessment.
There are 12 hydropower plants where rescuers are focusing their efforts. About 900 workers are missing, and about 500 are believed to be trapped in tunnels, authorities said.
A 60-year-old woman was rescued from Bidur town in Nuwakot district Saturday, and officials said she was being flown to Kathmandu. She was trapped on the top floor of a four-story home. Photos and video have shown rescuers finding the woman covered in mud. They gave her bottled water and pulled her to safety.
The Tribune of North India reported that the woman’s name is Chandika Shrestha.
